Located in the [[Ateno Desert]] and bisected by a river, the city is perhaps the closest one can get to a fully restored Valerian city.

The city was originally a single district of the megacity that once covered the entirety of the planet. With miraculous luck, most of it remained intact since the [[Singularity War]] despite being swallowed up by sand for centuries. As such, efforts could be made to restore most of the original buildings as they were after hidden bunkers containing their blueprints were discovered in a series of excavations. Although a lack of resources would prevent the restoration of the entire buried megacity, enough of the area was restored so that it rivaled [[Port Oraulan]] and [[Kantoh]] in size.

Most of the population of Atenhaten are half-Valerians. They are direct descendants of some of the original inhabitants that lived in the area during the Singularity War, although they intermingled with common humans, trading genetic purity for survival.
