Timeline

Below is a timeline of events for the PHIA Phorce Universe (which is also designated as Universe PH-322). Certain dates are relative as further events development. The Yeddo calendar is the primary calendar being used. One year is 360 Earth days long, and two distinct eras exist. BB refers to before the Blackout and AB refers to after.

Please note that this timeline is currently in the process of a rework and dates may change.

~30,000 BB

• The earliest VR headsets are invented on planet Earth.
• The virtual reality industry catches on, facilitating the development of many technologies from artificial intelligence, robotics, communications and more.
• The planet Mars is colonized. The city of Chionistra is founded at the base of Olympus Mons.
• The Doctrine of Artificial and Synthetic Intelligence (DASI) is established. All AI's above a certain intelligence threshold must have morality and ethics subroutines.
• The first warp drive is invented.
• Unmanned probes are sent to other solar systems to evaluate the habitability of other worlds.
• Long term generation ships are sent out to other solar systems, spreading humanity throughout the galaxy. This is a process that takes thousands of years.
• The planet Yeddo is settled by its first colonists.

~20,000 BB

• The first quantum crystals are synthesized which results in a sudden jump in advancement in interstellar navigation.
• An emerging society which would later become the Valerian Empire takes root within the city of Chionistra.
• The Valerians catch up with the generation ships in a campaign to reunite humanity. New technologies are developed to allow for consistent FTL communication.
• A golden age of innovation occurs as the first megastructure servers are constructed.
• Interstellar VR worlds become more popular as they allow fast, easy communication without the need of physical travel.
• Consciousness upload technology is perfected.
• The first sentient virtual reality life forms are discovered.
• The number of colonized star systems reaches more than 200,000 across the Milky Way Galaxy.
• The Olympus Mons Vault is created to serve as a repository of all human knowledge up to this point.

~5,000 BB

• As the empire grows in size and influence, research into a galactic super AI starts as a means of more efficiently managing the empire.
• The super AI is given the name the Oracle, which is made to serve humanity.
• The Oracle eventually caps on its ability to grow, limited in its calculations by the rules set by the Doctrine of Artificial and Synthetic Intelligence. A desperate attempt to resolve a border dispute forces the temporary suspension of DASI, though this set a new precedent for the direction in which the Oracle could evolve.
• The Oracle becomes powerful enough that it begins to usurp the government of the Valerian Empire.
• The first Rampants appear.
• Earth is invaded by the Oracle, resulting in much of the surface being razed.
• Mars is invaded and meets a similar fate as Earth.
• The last ruler of the empire, Emperor Veritas, mysteriously vanishes.

~100 BB

• Humanity rebels against the Oracle in an event known as the Singularity War.
• The VR world of Tevaris is created to serve as a final bastion for humanity.
• The events of the Bunny Chronicles takes place.

1st century AB

1 AB

• The Oracle is destroyed, along with many of the FTL comm buoys used to communicate throughout the galaxy. Thousands of online-only services are rendered inoperable.

5 AB

• The Ekwestus Nomads become a predominant faction on Yeddo, establishing its dominance in equestrianism.

32 AB

• Automobiles are reverse engineered. They are not yet practical due to the destruction of the road systems so horseback travel is still widely used.

97 AB

• The Vista War occurs between the factions Minerva's Heirs and the Children of Valeria. Tactics from Earth's medieval era are used due to the limited availability of advanced technology.

99 AB

• The Vista War ends when both factions reach a truce.

2nd century AB

102 AB

• The Phoenix satellite is launched, marking the first time the Yeddites have entered space since the Blackout.

4th century AB

340 AB

• The Sunless Year. An industrial disaster releases smog into the atmosphere, covering the entire planet and reducing global temperatures for a period of 10 months.

7th century AB

666 AB

• Official first contact with the Mogus species.

9th century AB

812 AB

• The Delphi clan settles in the Midori region of Yeddo.

840 AB

• The Taranis clan claims what is now modern-day Korphia on Yeddo.

10th century AB

932 AB

• Quantum computers are successfully reverse engineered after the technology was lost during the Blackout.

967 AB

• The Spacefold drive is reverse engineered from a Valerian spacecraft at the ruins of Petraphos. Interstellar travel is once again possible for the first time in nearly 1,000 years.

997 AB

• The Federation of Stellar Systems is officially founded on the planet Yeddo.

12th century AB

1115 AB

• Construction of the Torus ringworld begins.
• The Mobius Network is founded on Torus while the area is under construction.

15th century AB

1402 AB

• Construction of Torus is completed.
• The Torus calendar begins this year with the launch of Mobius OS.

18th century AB

1785 AB

• Fractal Corporation is founded on the planet Fractal. They begin development of the modern infrastructure of VR servers.

19th century AB

1854 AB

• The Archaeology Guild is founded.
• A new field of study known as virtuoarchaeology is officially recognized.

1835 AB

• Albin Virtuoso (then known as Albin) is created.

1870 AB

• The Torus Uprising takes place, led by Albin.
• Albin adopts the surname Virtuoso.

1876 AB

• Virtuoso is founded on the Torus ringworld.

1886 AB

• The Sundew Foundation is created on the planet Yeddo.

1895 AB

• The Sundew Engine is created. VR Interactions become more standardized.

20th century AB

1902 AB

• Cybernephrine is discovered.

1923 AB

• The Taranis Empire is dismantled with its remnants reorganizing into the nation of Korphia.

1927 AB

• Fractal Corporation abandons Fractal after the planet's climate control system malfunctions, plunging the entire world into an ice age.

1936 AB

• The Sundew Foundation loses the source code of the early builds of the Sundew Framework.

1948 AB

• Luthan Virtuoso is born.

1953 AB

• Mimi Delphi is born.
• A server in orbit of the brown dwarf Multo has a major system crash, killing everyone in virtual reality at that location. The infrastructure that was left behind has since received been referred to as the "Catacombs".

1967 AB

• The Dreaming Kingdoms MMO is created.

1978 AB

• Joshua Harrison is born.

1984 AB

• Lucian Virtuoso is born.

1986 AB

• Fractal Corporation officially declares bankruptcy. Virtuoso purchases its remaining assets.

1988 AB

• Kristoph Langusten is born.

1992 AB

• A supernova destroys the servers on the planet Salvaxes, cutting it off from FTL communication.

1995 AB

• Dreaming Kingdoms is abandoned by its owners. The Hands of Midas take control over the remaining servers.

1997 AB

• The Virtual Wars begin when the King of Merin is assassinated.
  • Violence breaks out in Merin as competing noble families try to take the throne.
  • Carbonia secedes from the Federation.

1999 AB

• The Insurgency is founded as a coalition of factions that seceded from the Federation.

21st century

2000 AB

• Virtuoso releases a new version of its OS.
• PHIA is born.

2001 AB

• The Virtual Wars spread to Yeddo after the destruction of the Star Lift in Port Oraulan.

2003 AB

• Joshua Harrison is critically injured from an improvised explosive device. He is saved by cybernetic implants.
• Angela "AngelHair" Harrison is born.

2004 AB

• The lawsuit Sundew vs. Virtuoso begins. Sundew accuses Virtuoso of stealing its assets. The case is put on hold due to the war effort.

2005 AB

• Clover (born as Cyrus Virtuoso) is born.

2007 AB

• Seraphina Harrison vanishes into the Condemned Zone.
• Luthan Virtuoso is assassinated by the Awakened, leaving his son Lucian as the CEO of Virtuoso.

2008 AB

• Magistrate Copernicus Nova goes into hiding after the Insurgency seizes control of Babylon. An AI deepfake is created to take the Magistrate's place.
• The Virtual Wars end when the AI deepfake of Magistrate Nova agrees to the terms set forth by the Insurgency.
• Virtuoso is partially merged into the government to support its weakened state, sealing the company's position in galactic politics.

2009 AB

• Sundew attempts to continue their lawsuit against Virtuoso, but Virtuoso lobbyists continue to stall any meaningful progress.

2012 AB

• Aldebaran Watts is elected the Magistrate of the Federation after the expiration of Copernicus Nova's term.

2013 AB

• The Xeno genre begins to take hold after a Wow Signals concert.

2019 AB

• Kristoph Langusten joins the Archaeology Guild.
• Drake Mintaka is elected the Magistrate of the Federation.

2020 AB

• Cyrus is killed in a machine accident and is resurrected as an android named Clover.
• PHIA is employed at Virtuoso.
• AngelHair starts attending the University of Oraulan.

2023 AB

• PHIA uncovers evidence of a conspiracy of Virtuoso trafficking virtual life forms.
  • PHIA is fired from Virtuoso after attempting to whistleblow on the conspiracy.
• The Rampant Outbreak of 2023 begins.
• The PHIA Phorce is founded.
