- ―Phyliss Taranis during Damien Alabaster's trial over war crimes
Damien Alabaster is a necromancer and a disgraced commander that once served Taranis having been banished to the Oraulan East Condemned Zone for war crimes severe even for the ruthless standards of Taranis itself. Like many other necromancers, he is a cyborg that can take control of Rampants to command them as an army.
Although he prefers to work alone, Damien collaborates with the Cult of Kronos by supplying them with Rampants for them to use in their cybernephrine operation. He obtains said Rampants from the scrap remains of deceased synthetic life forms or he sometimes kidnaps living ones and turns them into Rampants himself.
Appearance
Damien has orange eyes and long, straight hair going past his shoulders. His horns are positioned towards the front of his head.
Damien wears bronze robes similar to the standard Taranisan universe although the are tattered due to his time spent in the wasteland. He also is in posession of a standard issue polygonal drama mask, though he keeps it hanging on the side of his head instead of wearing it over his face. His right arm has been replaced with cybernetics to augument his abilities although due to wear and tear in the wasteland, he has replaced some parts using makeshift materials. In place of fingers on his prosthetic arm, he has razor sharp claws.
Personality
Damien is spiteful and cruel always looking to exact revenge and unleash his anger upon others. He has an inferiority complex, seeing Mortimer Nex as a reflection of the sort of man he could have become. Damien is more than willing to kill and torture others to get he what he wants. During his time serving Taranis, he often took the role as an interrogator.
Powers and Abilities
Damien is a skilled necromancer, using his cybernetic abilities to resurrect synthetic and virtual life forms with a Rampant virus and add them to his army. Perhaps one of his most notable feats is the resurrection of Franzo the Clown, a notorious serial killer who abducted children to torture them in a virtual reality circus.
History
What pushed Damien over the edge causing his exile was a mission where he was tasked with rooting out a spy who had been feeding intel to the Federation. While he discovered that the spy was an Old Guard soldier Janus Quirinus, he tortured and killed Janus' entire family in the process to get the information he needed. When it was later discovered that Janus was the only traitor and that his family was still loyal to Taranis, he was put forth on a military tribunal over the murder of innocent civilians.
The Old Guard demanded that he should be executed for causing the needless death of many innocent people. In particular, Kratos Duellona pushed the hardest for this sentence and believed it was the only logical action to deal with dishonorable assets. Ultimately, Phyliss Taranis presided over the tribunal herself and chose to spare Damien's life, sending him into exile. She told him to make himself useful in the Condemned Zone to continue serving Taranis' interests unofficially through a loophole in the truce with the Federation.
While in the wasteland, he began to turn his attention to Seraphina Harrison, a vigilante who had been disrupting his operations.
