First Code

The First Code is the baseline law that the Valerian Empire upheld during its prime. Even after the fall of the empire, it inspired the system of government for the Federation of Stellar Systems.

Principles of the First Code

• Respect the Contract - Act as an upstanding citizen and do good deeds to others.
• Respect the Grounds - It is considered a crime to trespass upon or vandalize property, including historical sites.
• Respect the Dead - The belongings of the dead are to be protected.
• Respect Autonomy - Strive to ensure every individual has a fair chance to seek knowledge.
• Preserve Knowledge - It is considered a crime to destroy or maliciously alter the contents of libraries or archives.
• Preserve Morality - The distinction between good and evil must be maintained within the minds of not just man but also machine.
• Preserve Sanity - Strive to ensure every individual has the chance to seek a sound mind.
• Preserve Humanity - The act of cold-blooded murder is considered unforgiveable.
