Honey bee

Honey bees were a species of hiveminded insect native to Earth. They were known for producing a variety of useful substances naturally such as honey. The beeswax they produced was once used as rocket fuel in the early spacefaring era of humanity, a technology developed by the Bee-Sustainable Company.

Extinction and revival

During the Singularity War, honey bees went extinct when Oracle forces ravaged the galaxy. However, several centuries after the Blackout, the species was discovered to have been perfectly preserved as a virtual life form in an ancient Valerian archive on Yeddo. An ambitious genetic engineering project sought to combine their genetic information with samples of the remains of physical honey bees preserved in amber. After ten years of research, the honey bee was successfully brought back from the dead, leading to a major technological revolution overnight. New farming methods as well as the rediscovery of honey lead to Yeddo experiencing a massive leap forward in technology.
