Stalwart is a water cloud gas giant orbiting the blue giant Resolute. It is the last known holdout of the original Valerian Empire, having been tasked with cutting itself off from the rest of the empire to preserve its knowledge during the Singularity War. It is effectively a snapshot of Valerian society. However, with the colony long isolated and not able to support the original infrastructure it was once did, the majority of the population went into cryostasis while their minds remained active in a virtual reality world.

The actual colony is located within Stalwart's atmosphere. Below its stormy upper atmosphere is a calm band that supports an alien ecosystem. It is here where a hidden airborne city floats among the clouds. It uses giant balloons to remain aloft while a fusion core provides everyday power needs.

During the Singularity War, Eris Duellona was charged with protecting this outpost after stopping by it for repairs. However, with the colony soon cutting itself afterward, she had no choice but to enter cryostasis herself.

Ecosystem

Though blue giants have a short lifespan compared to other stars, life on Stalwary developed relatively fast. Floating plankton dominates the skies while parachuting spider-like creatures drift from algae cluster to algae cluster. Enormous jellyfish with blimp-like bodies drift lazily, using their tentacles to catch whatever prey gets caught in their grasp.
