A lux is a type of virtual life form that once served the Valerian Empire in a variety of positions from messengers, to analysts and general assistants. Generally appearing as short, plump rabbit-like creatures no more than two feet tall, they were direct servants of the emperor or empress as well any clones across the galaxy. Lux are gifted in being able to learn information around and if needed, they can generate powerful technokinetic fields.

According to legend, lux were deliberately designed to have a cute, endearing appearance so as not to scare the subjects of the empire and to make them feel calm in the face of danger. They are also hardwired into recognizing and swearing absolute loyalty to those of royal blood, even going as far as to put themselves in harm's way to protect the innocent.

Following the Blackout, lux have become extremely rare as most of them perished during the Singularity War. The ones who survived hid themselves into data crystals and encrypted their memories to ensure their intel could not be acquired by enemy hands. They entered this dormant state in the hope that humanity would eventually reawaken them so that they could rebuild the Valerian Empire.

After multiple large scale expeditions across the galaxy, many lux have begun to reappear in the present day after these crystals started getting dug up by virtuoarchaologists. Some Lux willingly cooperate in trying to decrypt their own memories to aid humanity with their knowledge, but because of how old and rare they are, they are also a target by poachers and cybernephrine cartels.
