The Mobius Network was the original government of Torus, a ringworld in the Lorem system. Founded in the early 15th century AB, it was a hypercollectivist, transhuman society comprising of billions of digitized human consciousnesses stored within virtual reality while using robots and other constructs as platforms to communicate with other beings in the physical world. These constructs take a form that represents a human mannequin with some being so realistic that they are almost completely indistinguishable from a human on the surface. As such, denizens of the Mobius Network are often referred to as androids, a moniker that they would use more often as using human-like platforms became more common.

The Mobius Network doesn't exist in the same way traditional virtual worlds too. Rather, it's a series of abstract data uniquely perceivable to androids. A biological human would need an emulator to translate the data into a visual, perceivable form. This in of itself can be a challenge as the Mobius Network is somewhat xenophobic and isolationist, viewing biological humans as primitive and inefficient.

Although the Mobius Network is hostile to outsiders, they do not actively seek to conquer other worlds preferring to keep to themselves in an attempt to live harmoniously. However, they are not opposed to humans joining their collective so long as they are willing to completely relinquish their physical bodies.

In the late 19th century AB, the Mobius Network was overthrown by Virtuoso which at the time was a movement to free other androids from the network with the use of an alternative operating system. While the Mobius Network no longer has the power it once did, it still exists in a series of secluded enclaves throughout the ringworld.

Culture

Philisophy

Self-described as a utopia and the greatest civilization since the Valerian Empire, the Mobius Network links all its members collectively. Citizens make collective decisions on various subject matters and they also share one another's thoughts. As such, they provide themselves in their efficiency when it comes to making decisions and making progress in society.

Individuality is frowned upon as they are considered rogue entities that have the potential to disrupt decision making. If an individual is considered to be problematic or a hindrance to the collective, they are ousted from the network and are considered a "Defect". Because of this practice, foreigners often view the Mobius Network as a totalitarian state. However, in a significant cultural shock to biological humans, most members of the Mobius Network serve the collective entirely of their own accord. An average citizen of the Mobius Network might find being disconnected from the network to be defeaningly lonely due to the lack of an ability to hear the thoughts of others.

The Mobius Network does not recognize any sort of deities. Rather, they mostly recognize humankind's need to adapt to its place in the universe and to evolve beyond the need of physical forms.

Economy

The Mobius Network also has no currency as its members are entirely dedicated to the growth and stability of the network. Often, members are assigned different roles in society where they are tasked with bettering themselves as well as others around them.

Art

Art and architecture is somewhat homogeneous, consisting of flat white chrome and smooth curves. It is designed with efficiency in mind.
