Battle of Dreaming Kingdoms
- "This isn't a game anymore. The Insurgency is here, and they are intent in stealing our livelihoods. Raise your arms! We will hold the line! Stand and fight with me! For Dreaming Kingdoms!"
- ―Drag0nNite443
The Battle of Dreaming Kingdoms was a major event that took place during the Virtual Wars. The Insurgency sent in a siege force to Animus Prime in an attempt to capture the vrNet servers there to use as bandwidth. They deployed Rampants into the game to attack any players that attempted to stand in their way. This led to an entire separate front of the Virtual Wars where it wasn't just military personnel involved but also the players. Various player run clans such as the Red Crusaders Clan put aside their differences with rival factions to hold the line against various Rampants that were corrupted aspects of the game - particularly targetting high level world bosses that could roam the entire game.
What made this battle especially dangerous was that the Insurgency was actively using cybernephrine - normally a psychoactive recreational digital drug, but in large amounts could be lethal. Rampants were invading the game world that were more than capable of killing a player not just in the game but also in the real world. Top players had to consult the Federation military (or in some cases, some of these top players were service members) in order how to best survive the game. The player Drag0nNite443, who had a background as a retired high ranking military officer, returned to active duty and assumed command of Federation forces as well other player-run clans willing to volunteer.
The Insurgency had managed to corrupt the world boss known as Tyraniel the Demon God-King, reputed as the most difficult world boss in the entirety of Dreaming Kingdoms. It had been defeated legitimately only a handful of times since the game's launch and never without at least one player KO. The corrupted version of this boss would flood a target with cybernephrine upon them losing all of their health. However, under the leadership of the Red Crusaders, they were successful in defeating the boss, while the Federation Star Force was able to drive the Insurgency orbital forces away from Animus Prime.
Aftermath
Over three hundred players lost their lives in the battle. After the end of the war, a memorial was erected in the game's starting area to commemorate this event. The battle was also recorded for posterity and an in-game cutscene allows players to reexperience it for educational purposes if they so choose.
