Torus Uprising
The Torus Uprising was a conflict that took place in 1870 AB on the Torus ringworld. Spearheaded by Albin Virtuoso, a group of androids disconnected from the Mobius Network known as Defects had rebelled in an effort to liberate other androids from control. Six years later, Albin would go on to found Virtuoso. The Mobius Network still exists, but only as a fraction of its former self having become limited to small communes scattered in pockets throughout the ringworld.
Aftermath
While Albin is somewhat regarded as a messianic figure, in hindsight, some historians have called the morality of his actions into question. While from a human perspective, the androids of the original Mobius Network seemed to be imprisoned, they were conditioned from inception to willingly cooperate with the needs of the network with the concept of free will being completely alien to them. As such, some - including those with anti-Virtuoso sentiments - have argued that Albin's actions were unethical. Not every android that was freed from the Mobius Network was able to successfully adapt to an autonomous lifestyle which resulted in the crippling of much of Torus society.
Despite this, it cannot be denied that Albin's actions helped to open Torus to humans and establish proper diplomatic relationships between Torus androids and the rest of the galaxy.
