Albin Virtuoso (formerly Albin) was the founder of Virtuoso. He is known for leading the Torus Uprising against the Mobius Network on Torus, which freed most androids from their collective control.

Despite his efforts, Albin is considered a rather polarizing figure among Torusians. While many celebrate him as a hero and a champion of free will - especially humans, others view him as disruptive towards societal progress. In some respects, he is also considered a messianic figure for androids for his altruistic worldview.

Lucian Virtuoso is a direct descendant of Albin, sharing some his personality traits.

Personality

Albin is very charismatic and intelligent. He is particularly gifted in understanding how others think, leading to his special interest in humans. While many androids looked down on humans as primitive and limited, Albin showed a great fascination with them. In many respects, they were like alien beings having an entirely different way of sensing the world. He was one of the first androids in centuries to download his conciousness into a human body, thus starting the Virtuoso bloodline.

Though Albin is heavily regarded as a man with strong morals, rumors and gossip circled about of his various vices - particularly, for most of his life, he had no desire to form longterm interpersonal relationships. He held the belief that doing so would compromise his ability to experience free will. Because he did not want to get personally close with anyone, he was not known to be particularly faithful, and he had many partners with whom he shared pleasures with. Albin is thought to have sired over one hundred children. While many of them were with androids, several of them were born vivaporously from humans - an act which in Torusian culture is considered particularly grotesque.

However, in Albin's later life, his personal outlook changed. He started a human family of his own and settled down in retirement, believing it to be the most important aspect of an authentic human experience.

Death

Albin eventually died of old age, an irregularity for many androids given that most tend to die due to fatal injuries or software system failure. After choosing to remain in a human body, he wanted to authentically live the human experience by swearing to never reupload his consciousness to another body after the death of his current one. He also ordered all backups of his consciousness to be significantly altered into other personalities to essentially become his children rather than clones of himself. This act was considered controversial among his followers, but Albin insisted that he did not want to live longer than he needed to in order to better establish his own legacy.
