Abraham Lincoln (sometimes known as Link) is a virtual life form originating from an ancient historical simulation that served as a real-time reenacment of the American Civil War. This simulation, developed around the early years of the Valerian Empire was created as part of a project to document the ancient history of Earth. However, after years of decay, the simulation became corrupted and infested with Rampants, and Lincoln had to adapt to survive.

Appearance

Abraham Lincoln's likeness is based on the 16th president of the United States of America. He is tall, usually wearing a black suit and a top hat. He is particularly known for his dark beard. As a virtual life form, however, he can project himself into virtual worlds as well as the real world as a hard light hologram. While on the streets as a vigilante, he tends to wear a long black cape as well as a set of goggles that help to analyze his current targets.

Personality

Lincoln's personality is largely derivative of his historical counterpart, though he has additional core programming to provide visitors with knowledge to ensure they have an immersive experience upon visiting the simulation. However, with the corruption of the simulation by Rampants, he was forced to become more battle hardened than before. Even in the face of grim circumstances, he still deeply desires to restore his world back to normal so that he can continuing his mission of teaching others about history.

History

In the early days of the Valerian Empire, an effort was undertaken to document as much of Earth's history as part of an effort to create a massive repository of knowledge - one that would later be used in the original construction of the Oracle as training data. Historical recreations in virtual reality of various time periods of major events were made, one of which being the American Civil War. This simulation was designed to be a real-time reenacment of key events at the time from various battles to Lincoln's election as president to his assassination by John Wilkes Booth. For the greatest immersion, all the individuals within these simulations were created to be fully sentient and dynamic to allow them to adapt to their environment and to allow a degree of procedural generation to fill in any gaps. This allowed for any visitors into the simulation to freely interact with the world and even alter the outcome of the war to be different from reality. The simulation was also designed to reset itself after a certain amount of time has elapsed to allow the simulation to correct any errors and improve its accuracy.

During the Singularity War, the simulation became corrupted and infected with Rampants. Confederate soldiers were transforming into an assortment of monsters from zombies to hulking abominations. Thus, some of the individuals within the simulation were forced to adapt to face the threat. Lincoln gathered other individuals such as Ulysses S. Grant and Harriet Tubman to create a task force to fight these Rampants in hopes of eventually returning the simulation to normal.

When it became clear that the Rampants were not going to stop, Lincoln and his compatriots were forced to escape into the real world, finding that the rest of the galaxy was being overtaken by Rampants. They were all eventually forced to go into hiding to wait out the Oracle's invasion.

Thousands of years later after a period of dormancy, Lincoln returned to find an unrecognizable universe. History had forgotten who he was, but he knew he still had a mission to complete. He adopted the alias of "Link" and became a vigilante dedicated to hunting Rampants. Later on, he teamed up with the PHIA Phorce, joining their group to offer his unique skillset and insight.

Skills and Abilities

Lincoln has inherited all the charisma and strategic knowledge from his historical counterpart. In order to adapt to fighting Rampants, he has become proficient in a wide variety of holographic weapons and hacking. His favored arsenal includes weapons that while they resemble that which were contemporary to the time period have comparable energy yield as more modern weapons. In most practical situations, he tends to dual wield a set of energy daggers.

While Lincoln is unsure of how long he has been in his simulation, he has accumulated at least thousands of years of experience fighting Rampants from the sheer number of times the simulation has reset itself. As such, he possesses invaluable knowledge, especially in regards to the strategies employed by the Oracle during the Singularity War.
